The Qur&rsquo;aan is not a book of science, medicine or astronomy, even though its verses may contain a little of such things.&nbsp;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Hence the Muslim should not let himself be distracted from the greater purpose of reciting the Qur&rsquo;aan and look for the number of stones or rivers or kinds of animals mentioned therein.&nbsp;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Some precious stones such as rubies, pearls and coral are mentioned in the Qur&rsquo;aan.&nbsp;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):&nbsp;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: large;\">&ldquo;(In beauty) they are like rubies and coral&rdquo;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: large;\">[al-Rahmaan 55:58]&nbsp;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: large;\">&ldquo;Out of them both come out pearl and coral&rdquo;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: large;\">[al-Rahmaan 55:22]&nbsp;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: large;\">&ldquo;Like unto preserved pearls&rdquo;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: large;\">[al-Waaqi&rsquo;ah 56:23]&nbsp;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: large;\">&ldquo;And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls&rdquo;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: large;\">[al-Insaan 76:19]&nbsp;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: large;\">These stones do not have any spiritual significance, rather they are mentioned in the Qur&rsquo;aan to explain the blessings that Allaah has bestowed upon His slaves, of the seas and the things that are brought forth from them, or as a metaphor &ndash; so al-hoor al-&lsquo;iyn are likened to rubies, coral and preserved pearls, combining the purity of rubies and the whiteness of pearls and coral.&nbsp;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The boys are likened to scattered pearls, to indicate their beauty and good looks.&nbsp;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: large;\">And Allaah knows best.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Islam Q&amp;A<\/span><\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>","status":1,"created_at":"2015-05-22T06:00:00.000000Z","updated_at":"2015-05-22T06:00:00.000000Z","language_id":1,"fatawacate_id":23,"parent_id":5354,"author_id":"","books":[],"articles":[],"videos":[],"audios":[],"author_name":"","category_name":"The Quraan and its Sciences - General","category_slug":"","get_date":"2015-05-22"},"translations":[],"fatawa_books":[],"fatawa_articles":[],"fatawa_videos":[],"fatawa_audios":[],"url":"http:\/\/islamland.com\/eng\/api\/fatawas\/5355"}
