{"fatawa":{"id":7941,"title":"The hadeeth which says \u201cthere is no siyaahah in Islam\u201d is not saheeh","slug":"the-hadeeth-which-says-there-is-no-siyaahah-in-islam-is-not-saheeh","order":"","question":"How sound is the hadeeth \u201cThere is no siyaahah (travel by wandering ascetics) in Islam\u201d?","answer":"Praise be to Allaah.\r\n\r\nIt says in the hadeeth narrated by \u2018Abd al-Razzaaq in his Musannaf from Layth from Taawoos that the Messenger of Allaah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: \u201c\u2026 there is no travel by wandering ascetics, no hermitage and no monasticism in Islam.\u201d Al-Albaani said in Da\u2019eef al-Jaami\u2019, \u201c(It is) da\u2019eef.\u201d (no. 6287)\r\n\r\nWhat is saheeh is that which was narrated by Abu Dawood in his Sunan from the hadeeth of Abu Umaamah, that the Prophet SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: \u201cThe siyaahah (travel of wandering ascetics) of my ummah is jihaad for the sake of Allaah.\u201d\r\n\r\n(Classed as saheeh in Saheeh al-Jaami\u2019, no. 2093)\r\n\r\nThe word saa\u2019ihaat (translated as \u201cemigrants\u201d) in the aayah:\r\n\r\n\u201cMuslims (who submit to Allaah), believers, obedient (to Allaah), turning to Allaah in repentance, worshipping Allaah sincerely, given to fasting or emigrants [saa\u2019ihaat] (for Allaah\u2019s sake), previously married and virgins\u201d\r\n\r\n[al-Tahreem 66:5 \u2013 interpretation of the meaning]\r\n\r\nmay also mean women who fast, because the word siyaahah has two meanings in the shar\u2019i texts: it may mean jihad or it may mean fasting.\r\n\r\nAnd Allaah knows best.\r\n\r\nSheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid","status":1,"created_at":"2014-10-29T20:51:56.000000Z","updated_at":"2014-10-29T20:51:56.000000Z","language_id":1,"fatawacate_id":32,"parent_id":7940,"author_id":"","books":[],"articles":[],"videos":[],"audios":[],"author_name":"","category_name":"\u0627\u0644\u0623\u062d\u0627\u062f\u064a\u062b \u0627\u0644\u0636\u0639\u064a\u0641\u0629","category_slug":"","get_date":"2014-10-29"},"translations":[],"fatawa_books":[],"fatawa_articles":[],"fatawa_videos":[],"fatawa_audios":[],"url":"http:\/\/islamland.com\/eng\/api\/fatawas\/7941"}
